Sgt Vincent J. Jacoby, Jr. left waist gunner of the B-17 41-24452, took off on a bombing mission over the Romilly-sur-Seine airfield. His plane was shot down by German fighters, probably that of Hauptmann Conny Meyer of the 2./JG26. He was captured and sent to Stalag 17B in Braunau Gneikendorf.
