Floyd Kenneth McCutchan was born on December 11, 1913, in Parke County, Indiana. He was the son of John Henry McCutchan and Edith May Pulliam McCutchan. He was married to Mildred Catherine Miller McCutchan until her passing and later married Mary Duke Wilson McCutchan in 1968. He served in the European Theater in World War II including The Battle of the Bulge. He served as a Captain and was honorably discharged with the rank of Major.
After the war, he pursued a career in education in Angola, Indiana. He began as a high school math teacher from 1947 to 1951, then served as a school principal from 1951 to 1963, and later as superintendent from 1963 until his retirement in 1979. A highly respected community member, McCutchan held numerous professional positions and served as President of the Angola Lions Club. In retirement, he embraced woodworking, building a home workshop where he restored and crafted furniture for enjoyment. McCutchan died on May 23, 1986, and is now buried in the IOOF Riverview Cemetery, Monticello, White County, Indiana, USA.
