2nd Lt Harold M. Gnesin, navigator of the B-17 42-102463 “Triangle W”, took off from station 131 Nuthampstead, Hertfordshire, UK on a bombing mission to Toulouse. The plane was hit by flak and bailed out at 0915. Only Gnesin did not make it out. His body was originally buried in Cornebarrieu. His surname is spelled as "Gnesin" on his headstone.
