John Conway Kehoe, known by family and friends as "Conway," was born in Bealeton, Virginia on January 24, 1922. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Forces in November of 1943. 2LT Kehoe served as the co-pilot of the 860th Bomber Squadron, 493rd Bomber Group during World War II. Kehoe's crew, led by their commander, 1LT George H. Washington, mounted several attacks and raids on German positions. On August 18, 1944, Kehoe and the rest of his crew were shot down in Boussicourt, France while attacking a German airfield in Roye-Amy. All but one died in the crash, including Kehoe. He was 22 years old.
