John Harland MacCreadie was born on 29 April, 1893, at Lawrence to John and Lila Frances MacCreadie; brother of Esther Margaret of Pasadena, Calif. He was graduated from Princeton University, Class of 1919; prepared at Phillips Academy, Andover. Enrolled on 21 May, 1917, he was assigned to Provision and Clothing Depot, Building 33 (Chemical Laboratory), Navy Yard, New York City. John passed examination in August, 1918, for rank of Ensign, but died of disease on December 7, 1918 before being commissioned.
