William Allen Currence was born on January 10, 1944. He served in the Headquarters Company, 212th Aviation Battalion, 1st Aviation Brigade, as a Captain and Pilot of a US Army UH-1D helicopter (#66-16205).
On January 15, 1969, the U.S. Army UH-1D helicopter was shot down while operating west of Hoa An in Quang Nam Province, South Vietnam. The aircraft was supporting the 3rd Marines, who were engaged with enemy forces at the time, and there were no survivors of the crash. He is now buried in the Bad Tölz Municipal Cemetery in Germany.
