Kelly Joe T. Espenida is a licensed Medical Laboratory Technician and U.S. Navy veteran with extensive experience in clinical laboratory operations and healthcare diagnostics. He earned his High School Diploma from Nile C. Kinnick High School in 2005 before completing a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology at Angeles University Foundation in 2008. After serving as an Aviation Ordnanceman in the United States Navy from December 2009 to August 2015, he continued his education by earning an Associate's degree in Clinical/Medical Laboratory Technician from the Southwestern Community College District in 2018. He began his civilian laboratory career as a Medical Laboratory Technician at Genalyte, Inc. from 2019 to 2021 before joining Cue Health, where he served as Laboratory Technician Lead and later as Clinical Laboratory Operations Supervisor, overseeing laboratory staff, workflow optimization, inventory management, process improvement, quality documentation, and cross-functional operations. Since January 2024, Espenida has been serving as a Medical Laboratory Technician at Rady Children's Hospital–San Diego, where he continues to apply his expertise in clinical laboratory testing and patient care while drawing upon the discipline and technical skills developed during his military service.
