Roland Arthur Remick was born on May 9, 1915, in Bristol, Grafton County, New Hampshire. He was the son of Edwin Sherman Remick and Alice Corinne Bailey. He was married to Alvin Flay Pierson. After completing high school, he attended the University of New Hampshire, graduating in 1940. Before entering military service, Remick worked as a salesman. He was drafted into the U.S. Army on January 17, 1942, and, as a college graduate, was selected for Officer Candidate School, where he earned his commission as a Second Lieutenant. After serving with several units, he was assigned overseas to the European Theater.

On August 12, 1944, he joined Company E, 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division, as a platoon leader after being transferred from a replacement depot. He was killed in action on October 15, 1944, during the fighting near Aachen, Germany. 1LT Remick was laid to rest at the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery in Belgium. A cenotaph honoring his memory also stands at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, New Hampshire.
