Jakenberg "Jake" N. Almuete began his U.S. Navy career in March 1992 as an enlisted Shipboard Propulsion Specialist (Gas Turbine Electrician) after completing technical training at the Naval Training Center Great Lakes and the Naval Supply Corps School. Commissioned as a naval officer in 2001, he served in a series of increasingly responsible logistics, contracting, and acquisition assignments, including Food Service Officer aboard USS Vincennes (CG-49), Customer Service Officer at the Southwest Regional Maintenance Center and USS Frank Cable (AS-40), Contingency Contracting Officer with the Joint Contracting Command–Iraq/Afghanistan at Joint Base Balad, and Officer in Charge of Commander Task Force 53 in the United Arab Emirates. He later joined the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), where he served as Contract Specialist for Tactical Aircraft Contracts before becoming Deputy Division Head for Major Weapons Systems Support Contracts. Promoted to Lieutenant Commander, he served until he retired from the Navy in March 2016 after more than 24 years of military service. Since April 2016, Almuete has continued supporting the federal government as a Contracting Officer with the General Services Administration (FEDSIM). His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Far Eastern University, a Master's degree in Business Administration from National University, Federal Acquisition Certification–Contracting Level III, Defense Acquisition University Contracting Level III certification, Program Management Level I certification, and executive education from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
