Eleanor Gacad earned an Associate of Arts degree in Journalism from Saint Louis University � Mary Heights Campus in Baguio City, Philippines, where he studied from 1976 to 1978. In 1985, he joined the United States Navy and completed Dental Assisting "A" School before serving as a Dental Technician for four years. After leaving active naval service, he entered federal civilian service in Japan as a Department of Defense dental assistant. In November 2003, he transferred to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where he has continued serving as a Dental Assistant for more than 22 years.
