Tohoru Tom Takai was born on May 28, 1928. He served in the 31st Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division, as a Sergeant and Infantry Reconnaissance Scout during the Korean War.

Sgt Takai was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in North Korea on November 28, 1950, and died while a prisoner on June 30, 1951. He is now buried in the Evergreen Cemetery, Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, USA.
