Koichi Moriwaki was born on February 21, 1929, in Kurtistown, Hawaii County, Hawaii. He was the son of Kunio Moriwaki and Miyoko Moriwaki. He served in the 19th Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class and Supply Clerk during the Korean War.

PFC Moriwaki was Killed in Action on September 20, 1950, in South Korea. He is now buried in the East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 1, Hilo, Hawaii County, Hawaii, USA.
