Robert Shinei Kobashigawa was born on January 23, 1928, in Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii. He was the son of Taru Kobashigawa. He served in the 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, as a Sergeant and Light Weapons Assault Crewman during the Korean War.

Sgt Kobashigawa was Killed in Action on October 3, 1951, in North Korea. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
