Masami Kawamura was born on October 8, 1928. He served in the 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class and Light Weapons Infantryman during the Korean War.

PFC Kawamura was seriously wounded by enemy missile fire during the Battle of Heartbreak Ridge in North Korea and succumbed to his wounds on October 10, 1951. He is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA.
