Juan Duenas Benavente was born on February 5, 1931. He was the son of Enrique Reyes Benavente and Francisca Delgado Duenas Benavente. He served in the Headquarters Company, 223rd Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during the Korean War.

PFC Benavente was Killed in Action on May 29, 1952, in North Korea. He is now buried in the Agana Cemetery, Hagatna (Agana), Guam. His name is also commemorated on Guam’s Korean War Memorial in Hagåtña.
