Jesus Tyquiengco Aguigui was born on May 24, 1931, in Merizo, Guam. He was the son of Ignacio Babauta Aguigui and Bienvenida Mata (nee Tyquiengco) Aguigui. By the time Jesus enlisted in the United States Army on January 22, 1952, the Korean War was already underway. After completing his training, he was deployed to Korea and assigned as a Private First Class to Company B, 1st Battalion, 160th Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division, a light weapons infantry unit actively engaged in combat operations in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea).

Jesus was wounded in action on October 22, 1952, but recovered and returned to duty only three days later on October 25. On January 19, 1953, he was killed in action near Battle of Heartbreak Ridge, during a period in which his regiment sustained heavy casualties. He is now buried in the Merizo Community Catholic Cemetery, Merizo, Guam. His name is also commemorated on Guam’s Korean War Memorial in Hagåtña.
