Frank E. Rick was born on October 7, 1920. He attended St. Casimir’s parochial school and later prepared for the missionary priesthood at St. Mary’s Mission in Epworth, Iowa. He joined the Wisconsin National Guard in 1940 and, before entering active service on September 15, 1942, worked for Shadbolt & Boyd Company. He served in the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, as a Staff Sergeant during World War II.

SSgt Rick died from his wounds received in battle on September 20, 1944, during the liberation of Eindhoven, the Netherlands. He is now buried in the Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA.
