Irving F. Krom was born on October 19, 1924, in Ulster County, New York. He served in the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, as a Private First Class during World War II.

PFC Krom died from his wounds received in battle on September 20, 1944, during the liberation of Eindhoven in the Netherlands. He is now buried in the Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale, Suffolk County, New York, USA.
