Meredith Brown Lewis was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Grace G. Lewis and his stepfather Charles B. Lewis. He entered the service in February 1917 and served in the 54th Squadron, Royal Air Force, as a Lieutenant and bombardier during World War I.
Lt Lewis was killed in an air fight over France on July 15, 1918, and is now buried in the La Ville-aux-Bois British Cemetery, La Ville-aux-Bois-les-Pontavert, Département de l'Aisne, Picardie, France.
Son of Capt Charles Borie Lewis, Spanish-American and World War I Veteran. He served during the Spanish-American War as a Private in the 1st Philadelphia City Troop who also during World War I he served in the United States Army as a Captain in the Ordnance Division.
