He gave his date of birth as 4 August 1894.
He was drafted on 6 October 1917, and sent for training to Camp Lee, Virginia, where he was recorded on 1 February 1918, later in New Jersey, on 27 March 1918, before being sent to France.
The plaque notes that he served in M Company of 125th Infantry of the United States Army, and died in World War 1, in France. The 125th Regiment, 32nd Infantry “Les Terribles” Division fought during the Battle of the Ourcq. Remains returned to Ireland in 1922 on the SS Millwater. Buried in Lislee Cemetery.
