US Army soldier. Preston served as a Second Lieutenant, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, U.S. Army during World War II. He resided in Kenmore, Erie County, New York prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on March 31, 1941, prior to the war, in Buffalo, New York. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Office Clerk and also as Single, without dependents. Preston was "Killed In Action" during the invasion of France at Utah Beach. He was awarded a Purple Heart.

Preston and his brother, Robert, are buried side by side. Both were killed during the D Day Invasion and one day apart.
