Andrew Martin “Bo” Harper was born on August 17, 1991, in South Carolina. He was the son of Steven Matthew Harper and Deanna Jeanette Anderson Harper Wells. He attended Nutter Fort Primary and Intermediate School, Washington Irving Middle School, and later transferred to South Harrison Middle School. He went on to attend University High School in Morgantown, West Virginia, graduated in 2009, and soon afterward enlisted in the United States Army. He held the rank of Private First Class and served with I Company, 3d Squadron, 2d Stryker Cavalry Regiment, stationed in Vilseck, Germany, and was later deployed to Afghanistan.
PFC Harper died March 11, 2011, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained in a noncombat incident during Operation Enduring Freedom. He is now buried in the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown, Taylor County, West Virginia, USA.
