Cody Allen Board was born on October 12, 1990, in Oklahoma. He was the son of Christopher Board and Melissa Board. He attended McKinney North High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2009. Following completion of Infantry One Station Unit Training (OSUT), he was assigned to Vilseck, Germany. He served in A Co, 1st Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment, as a Private First Class and Infantryman, and was later deployed to Afghanistan.

PFC Board was Killed in Action on October 4, 2010, in Kandahar, Afghanistan, after sustaining injuries when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He is now buried in the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Comanche County, Oklahoma, USA.
