John Edward Andrade Sr. was born on July 3, 1991, in Texas. He was the son of Cesar and Juanita Andrade. He was married to Elizabeth M. Andrade. He graduated from Holmes High School and enlisted in the Army just a year earlier where he was assigned as a Stryker driver. He held the rank of Private First Class and served as an Infantryman with I Company, 3d Squadron, 2d Stryker Cavalry Regiment, stationed in Vilseck, Germany. His unit was deployed to Afghanistan in June of 2010, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
PFC Andrade was Killed in Action on August 7, 2010, when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device in DE Khak Chupan Turah, Kandahar, Afghanistan. He is now buried in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas, USA.
