Joshua Alexander Molina was born on April 8, 1987, in Houston, Harris County, Texas. He was the son of Josue and Maria Molina. He participated in the Army Junior ROTC program at Bellaire High School and later transferred to Elsik High School. After graduating in 2005, Joshua enlisted in the U.S. Army. Although he never intended to make the military a lifelong career, he planned to enroll in college in 2009 and hoped to one day work as a Border Patrol or FBI agent. He served as a Corporal with C Troop, 1st Squadron, 2d Stryker Cavalry Regiment, stationed in Vilseck, Germany, and was later deployed in Iraq.

Cpl Molina died on March 27, 2008, in Baghdad after sustaining fatal wounds when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is now buried in the Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Harris County, Texas, USA.
