Joseph Bradley Ryan Milledge Sr. was born on February 3, 1984, in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County, Iowa. He was the husband of Amanda Milledge. He graduated from Glenwood High School in May 2002 and later relocated to Texas. He enlisted in 2004, he initially served as a Specialist with the 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division at Fort Lewis, Washington, from 2004 to 2005, later advancing to Sergeant and serving as an Infantryman with I Company, 3d Squadron, 2d Stryker Cavalry Regiment, based in Vilseck, Germany, with two deployments to Iraq in 2004–2005 and again in 2007.

Sgt Bradley was Killed in Action on October 5, 2007, in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near their unit during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is now buried in the Tahoma National Cemetery, Kent, King County, Washington, USA.
