Cedric Lamont Lennon was born on November 17, 1970, in Paterson, Passaic County, New Jersey. He earned his GED from the state of Alabama in 1996 and entered active duty on September 29, 1999, in Montgomery, Alabama, enlisting for a three-year term. He was assigned to the U.S. Army Infantry Center at Fort Benning, Georgia, where he completed Basic Combat Training from October through December. After graduating in December, he reported to the U.S. Army Quartermaster School at Fort Lee, Virginia, in January 2000. There, he completed Advanced Individual Training as a 92G Food Service Operations Specialist, graduating in March 2000.

On March 30, 2000, Cedric was assigned as a Food Service Specialist to Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, at Fort Polk. He reenlisted in the Army on February 26, 2002, for an additional four-year term and was promoted to Specialist on January 1, 2003. He was later deployed to Iraq with his unit on May 2, 2003, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Spc Lennon died on June 24, 2003, in Baghdad, Iraq. His death was ruled non-combat related and determined to be the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He is now buried in the Caffee Cemetery, West Blocton, Bibb County, Alabama, USA.
