Wayne Marshall Geiger was born on June 10, 1984, in Kern County, California. He was the son of Randy and Kim Geiger. He graduated from Lone Pine High School and enlisted in the army in 2005. He completed basic training with the 2nd Battalion, 58th Infantry Regiment at Fort Benning, Georgia. He held the rank of Corporal and served as an Infantryman with H Company, 3d Squadron, 2d Stryker Cavalry Regiment, stationed in Vilseck, Germany, and later deployed in Iraq.

Cpl Geiger was killed on October 18, 2007, in Baghdad, Iraq, after sustaining wounds when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He is now buried in the Mount Whitney Cemetery, Lone Pine, Inyo County, California, USA.
