Rolla Ray Bowen was born on September 2, 1921, in Elijah, Ozark County, Missouri. He was the son of Samuel Roscoe Bowen and Audie L. Hixon Bowen. He served in the 271st Infantry Regiment, 69th Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II.

PFC Bowen was Killed in Action on April 13, 1945, during the Battle of Wei�enfels in Germany. He is now buried in the Elijah Church of Christ Cemetery, Elijah, Ozark County, Missouri, USA.
