Eldon Leroy Young was born on March 10, 1920, in Blain City, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Dale Dewey Young and Mary Wiletta Lightner Young. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II.

PFC Young was Killed in Action on August 29, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Harmony Chapel Cemetery, Newburg, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania, USA.
