Carroll Merlin Stevens was born on August 2, 1922, in Newton, Jasper County, Iowa. He was the son of Ethel Donna Anderson Stevens. He was a senior at Western Hills High School when he entered the service on December 21, 1942. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II.
PFC Stevens was Killed in Action on August 30, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, Fort Leavenworth, Leavenworth County, Kansas, USA.
