Robert Randles was born on September 8, 1918, in New York. He was the son of Jennie Stephens Randles. He served in the 28th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division, as a Staff Sergeant during World War II.

SSgt Randles was Killed in Action on August 31, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Département de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France.
