Charles William O'Malley Sr. was born on January 23, 1910, in Mississippi. He was the son of John Edward O'Malley and Leanora Louise Carrigan O'Malley. He was married to Ethelred Eleanor Gaines O'Malley. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II.

Pvt O'Malley was Killed in Action on September 2, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Peninsula Memorial Park, Newport News, City of Newport News, Virginia, USA.
