Wendell Allen Nye was born on March 26, 1912, in Westminster, Worcester County, Massachusetts. He was the son of Arthur Wendall Nye and Mildred L. Nye. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II.

Pvt Nye was Killed in Action on September 1, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, D�partement de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France.
