Curtis Eugene Nicholson was born on July 16, 1919, in DeKalb County, Georgia. He was the son of Isaac M. Nicholson Sr. and Zora Lee Echols Nicholson. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II.

Pvt Nicholson was Killed in Action on August 29, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Département de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France.
