Donald Everett McCormick was born on July 10, 1920, in Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts. He was the son of John Brassill McCormick and Mary Josephine Moore McCormick. He was married to Lucille Frances Morey Shea. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II.

PFC McCormick was Killed in Action on August 30, 1944, during the Battle for Brest, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Département de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France.
