Sheridan Allison Mackey was born on September 9, 1919, in Cumbola, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Adam Nathaniel Mackey Jr. and Margaret Inez Feeley Mackey. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a First Lieutenant during World War II.

1Lt Mackey was Killed in Action on August 28, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Pottsville, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, USA.
