George Delbert Loghry was born on July 24, 1910, in Turner County, South Dakota. He was the son of Mark Heber "Harry" Loghry and Jessie May Roe Loghry. Before the war, he worked as a farm laborer in Riverton, Wyoming, and registered for the draft in October 1940. He was inducted into the U.S. Army during World War II and served as a Private First Class with the 121st Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division. After training in the United States, his division deployed to the European Theater, landing in Normandy in July 1944. PFC Loghry fought in the brutal hedgerow battles of Normandy and later in the intense siege of Brest, France, where he was wounded in combat and awarded the Purple Heart.

On September 4, 1944, during the final stages of the fighting around Brest, PFC Loghry was killed in action at the age of 34. He is buried at the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial in Saint-James, France. He also has a cenotaph in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Riverton, Fremont County, Wyoming, USA.
