George Adelbert Kuss was born on April 1, 1913, in Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey. He was the husband of Lorene Elvina Muriel Emma Pitt. He worked as a skilled construction worker before enlisting in the service on July 18, 1941. He served in the 12th Engineer Combat Battalion, 8th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II.

Pvt Kuss was Killed in Action on August 25, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Département de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France.
