Levi William Jones was born on August 1, 1915, in Young County, Texas. He was the son of John Marvin Jones Sr. and Regina Vida Williams Jones. He attended school in Orth and entered Army service in 1941. His training took place at Fort Sam Houston and later at Camp McCoy in Wisconsin. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II.

Pvt Jones was Killed in Action on September 2, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the True Cemetery, Young County, Texas, USA.
