Arley Dale Henderson was born on June 14, 1920, in West Union, Doddridge County, West Virginia. He was the son of Daniel S. Henderson and Myrtle Rebecca George. He served in the 9th Armored Infantry Battalion, 6th Armored Division, as a Private First Class during World War II.

PFC Henderson was Killed in Action on August 9, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Shirley United Methodist Church Cemetery, Shirley, Tyler County, West Virginia, USA.
