Otto J. Harris was born on June 9, 1925, in Cullman County, Alabama. He was the son of Frederick Otto "Fred" Harris and Mintie L. "Mittie" Freeman Harris. He entered the service in November 1943. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II.

PFC Harris was Killed in Action on August 25, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Rices Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery, Campbellville, Walker County, Alabama, USA.
