Frederick William Hamilton Jr. was born on August 30, 1923, in Saint John, Saint John County, New Brunswick, Canada. He was the son of Frederick William Hamilton Sr. He was married to Genevieve Durrick Prince. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II.

PFC Hamilton was Killed in Action on August 29, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Département de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France.
