John Fitzgerald Fahey was born on May 9, 1924, in St. Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota. He was the son of Michael Joseph Fahey and Louise Corcoran Fahey. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Corporal during World War II.

Cpl Fahey was Killed in Action on September 2, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA.
