Jess Robert Brewer was born on October 6, 1918, in Wagoner County, Oklahoma. He was the son of William Robert "Willie" Brewer and Minnie Mae "Millie" Rhodes Brewer. He was married to Virgie J. Baker Wade. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II.

Pvt Brewer was Killed in Action on August 28, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Elmwood Cemetery, Wagoner, Wagoner County, Oklahoma, USA.
