Jefferson Douglas “JD” Boulware was born on July 14, 1918, in Fairfield County, South Carolina. He was the son of William T. Boulware and Marion D. Boulware. He was married to Estelle Smith Boulware. He was a graduate of Monticello High School and a former salesman for Shivar Springs. He had entered the Army on December 15, 1943, trained at Camp Croft, and went overseas in late July before being sent to France. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II.

PFC Boulware was Killed in Action on August 29, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Cool Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Cool Branch, Fairfield County, South Carolina, USA.
