William Wallace “Jack” Bogle was born on February 4, 1910, in Ceres, Bland County, Virginia. He was the son of Andrew Napolean Bogle and Marian Luvenia Pruett Bogle. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private First Class during World War II.

PFC Bogle died from his wounds received in battle on September 7, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Département de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France.
