Hubert Eugene “Hugh” Blechschmidt was born on October 3, 1924, in Parma, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was the son of William Edward Blechschmidt Sr. and Margaret Catherine Nolan Blechschmidt. He served in the 121st Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II.
Pvt Blechschmidt was Killed in Action on September 3, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial, Saint-James, Département de la Manche, Basse-Normandie, France.
