William John Ambrozy was born on November 25, 1916, in Athol, Worcester County, Massachusetts. His last name, originally spelled Ambrozy at his christening, was later recorded as Ambrose. He was the son of Frank Ambrozy and Adela Bolandy Ambrozy. He was married to Evelyn Robichaud Niedzwiecki. He began attending Main Street School in September 1923 and later left Athol High School in February 1934 to take a job at the Union Twist Drill Company. He enlisted in the service on February 1, 1944. He served in the 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division, as a Private during World War II.

Pvt Ambrozy was Killed in Action on September 2, 1944, during the Battle of Brest, France. He is now buried in the Gethsemane Cemetery, Athol, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA.
