John Edwin Kline was born on May 18, 1916, in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Harry Norman Kline and Anna Mary Danz Kline. He served in the 584th Bomb Squadron, 394th Bomb Group, Medium, as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot on a B-26 Marauder nicknamed ''Prelude to Victory'', based in England during World War II.

2Lt Kline was Killed in Action on April 22, 1944, when his aircraft was struck by anti-aircraft fire over St. Omer, France. He is now buried in the Saint Joseph's New Roman Catholic Cemetery, Bausman, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA.
